Sleep, Fatigue & Low Energy

When getting rest feels impossible

 

Sleep issues and chronic fatigue aren’t just about feeling tired — they can impact your focus, mood, recovery, and quality of life. Whether you’re struggling to fall asleep, wake up feeling unrested, or find yourself dragging through the day despite rest, persistent sleep and energy problems can make everything harder.

The truth is, sleep and energy are controlled by your body’s nervous system, and when the nervous system is under stress or stuck in “alert mode,” rest becomes harder to achieve.  A bulging disc occurs when one of the soft, cushion-like spinal discs that sit between the vertebrae protrudes beyond its normal boundary. Unlike a herniated disc, where internal material actually leaks out, a bulging disc remains intact but pushes outward, which can place extra pressure on nearby nerves and tissues. This can lead to pain, stiffness, and altered sensation in the back, neck, arms, or legs. 

Many people experience disc bulges without severe pain — but when the bulge compresses a nerve or disrupts normal spinal motion, it can significantly affect daily activities, movement, and quality of life. 

Your nervous system regulates rest and energy

Your nervous system plays a central role in how well you sleep and how energized you feel during the day. It controls the balance between:

  • Rest & recovery mode (parasympathetic activity)
     
  • Alert & stress mode (sympathetic activity)
     

When this system is overloaded — by stress, tension, poor posture, or unresolved strain — it can struggle to switch into restorative mode. That’s when you might feel “tired but wired,” waking up unrefreshed, struggling to focus, or constantly relying on stimulants just to get through the day.
